Vincennes University has a new women’s basketball head coach—only the sixth in the program’s history.
Nyla Johnson was naed the the position. She will move from her spot as an assistant at Belmont University in Nashville to take the position. The Huntsville, Alabama native Before joining the staff at Belmont, she served seven years as the head coach at Division Three Birmingham Southern College.
William Burgess walkoff single lifted Vincennes Lincoln to a 4-3 win over Evansville Harrison. Luke Hall, Cooper Collins, and Brody Phillips had 2 hits each for the Alices, who move to 12-3 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.
Vincennes Rivet stumbled last night and lost in Hutsonvile Illinois 6-4. Brody Shots and Nash Ransom had back to back homers for the Patriots, who drop to 8-4 on the year.
In softball, a third inning grand slam by Bradie Turpin fueled a six run Vincennes Lincoln third inning, as the Lady Alices win 15-6 over Evansville Central. Addy Alton paced LHS with three hits in the SIAC victory at Four Lakes Park.
In tennis, the South Knox Lady Spartans go to 11-2 with a 5-0 Senior Nigh win over North Daviess. Singles winners were Alli Hayden, Grace Arnold, and Ragan Harrington. Also winning were the doubles teams of Caroline Beard and Grace Carie, and Eliza Dellinger and Emily Dreiman.
In track, South Knox took both boys and girls’ honors in a quad meet yesterday at South Knox. The Spartans won the boys meet with 131 points, followed by Shoals, Loogootee, and Rivet with 24. In the girls’ meet, the Lady Spartans scored 92, with Rivet and Shoals tied with 52, followed by Loogootee.
Rivet’s girls winners were Rachel Jacqmain in three events, and Lissa Willis in teo events, and Keby Black in one event. Beckitt McGuyer paced the Rivet boys with wins in three events.
For South Knox, winners included Ace Clodfelder, Isaac Singleton, Jacob Cork, Kyle Evans, Zach Woolard, Joseph Ellerman, Jack Herb, and Kolby Klem. All were single event winners. Also, the South Knox 400, 1600, and 3200 relay teams were all victorious.
