Ralph “Bud” Pepmeier, Jr. passed away at the age of 78 on February 20, 2025, in Brownsburg, Indiana. He was born on October 17, 1946, in Vincennes, and grew up and lived in Bicknell, before relocating to Owensville, Indiana, for his job at Gibson Generating Station, Duke Energy.
Bud’s two greatest loves of his life were his job as an electrical supervisor for over 40 years with Duke Energy, previously Public Service of Indiana/Cinergy, and his family. Bud and Sheila (Michalos) Pepmeier were married for 58 loving years, and together they raised their children Shelley Miller (Dan) of Lebanon, IN, and Todd Pepmeier (Holly) of Fishers, IN, who are forever grateful to have had the best father anyone could ask for. Bud’s proudest role was that of grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren who will forever carry loving memories of “Papaw” with them.
Bud served in the Indiana National Guard. He always thought of Bicknell as “home” and maintained many close friends there throughout his life. Bud was also a previous member of the Bicknell French Club.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Pepmeier, Sr. and Burtrice (Lawhead) Pepmeier, and by his brother, Norman Pepmeier. His memory will be forever treasured by those who had the privilege to know him. Bud’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family.
A graveside service for the family will be held at Sandborn Cemetery on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Mike DeCoursey. Fond memories and online condolences may be made at www.fredrickandson.com. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bud’s name to Wounded Warrior Project. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel, is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Pepmeier’s arrangements.
