Indiana lawmakers are moving forward with a bill to cap enrollment in the state’s Healthy Indiana Plan at 500-thousanMedid people, citing unsustainable Medicaid growth.
Senate Bill 2, backed by Republicans, also maintains a 20-hour-per-week work requirement with exceptions for pregnant women and recent parolees.
Critics argue the cap could leave vulnerable Hoosiers without care, particularly those in addiction recovery programs.
The bill passed out of committee along party lines and now heads to the full Senate for debate.
