Julie “Butler” Purcell, aged 54, passed away on January 3, 2025, in Jasper, IN. Born on November 13, 1970, in Vincennes, IN, Julie was a cherished daughter of Philip Butler and Debbie Wininger Lehman, and step-daughter to Thomas Lehman. Embracing life with open arms, she connected with the world through her radiant spirit.
Julie’s life was characterized by her enduring bond with her devoted husband, Richard Purcell, whom she married on July 9th, 2005. Her love and nurturing embrace will be forever remembered by her children: Donnie Morrison, Brittany Morrison, Brittany Purcell, Ryan Purcell, and Jace Purcell, as well as her adored seven grandchildren. Along with her immediate family, Julie’s passing leaves a space in the hearts of her beloved father, mother, and step-father, her siblings: Mandy Evrard Duby, Howard Bullington, and Charlie Abel.
Her grandparents, Beaulah Butler-Sims, Jasper Sims, and Ruth Crouse, who preceded her in death, laid the foundation for the deep values and commitments that Julie held dear. A graduate of local high schools, Julie invested her time in community and spiritual growth as an active member of the Bethlehem General Baptist Church.
Known for her love of animals, Julie found joy and companionship in her dog, Penny. Her passion also extended to the beauty of nature, as seen in her appreciation of blooming plants and the delightful presence of hummingbirds. Julie was best described as a loving, friendly, and kind soul – traits that echoed in her every interaction.
It is with immense love and great respect that we celebrate Julie’s legacy—a life enriched by genuine kindness and the warm company of family and friends. Her light, though no longer among us, continues to shine in the memories we hold dear.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Fond memories and online condolences may be made to www.fredrickandson.com. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Vincennes Chapel, is honored to be entrusted with Julie’s arrangements.
