Lawmakers are already laying the ground work for how to handle the state’s money over the next two years. Gaveling back in on Wednesday, the state legislature is faced with growing calls for property tax relief. It’s something House Speaker Todd Huston says for now is the job of the State Senate. Huston knows it’s the Legislature’s job to strike a balance between property tax relief and proper revenue for various state services.
Along with the property tax relief issue, lawmakers are also crafting the state’s two year budget. The budget specifics are currently being hammered out in the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee.
