The Knox County community came together again last night to celebrate award winners, as part of the annual Knox County Chamber of Commerce banquet. The event was held last night at the Highland Woods Community Center on Hart Street.
As part of the evening, Chamber director Jamie Neal updated the Chamber’s successes over the last year. One of the biggest is use of Shop Knox County gift cards.
This year, the buy one, get one cards sold out in around two hours, as part of the Christmas shopping season. Neal says that put a significant amount back into the County’s economy. Neal knows that has made a major impact on merchant bottom lines– especially in a slow part of the year.
There are also more benefits to come. Chamber officials estimate over 50-thousand dollars of the gift cards have not be spent to this poin.
