Pension issues are at the heart of a I-U-P-A-T strike against-Gemtron’s location in Vincennes.  The orange-shirted workers’ started striking at seven yesterday morning, and are located across Chestnut Avenue from the plant’s entrance.
I-U-P-AT stands for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
Gemtron officials have not listed any strike-related informatnon on their social media sites or Website.  However, in a written statement toTerre Haute’s WTWO, company officials say they respect the union’s right to strike, and will bargain in good faith.  However, union members don’t share that same opinion.
The union represents about around 30 to 35 workers at the Gemtron facility.  Despite the strike, other Gemtron workers continued to show up for work  as normal.
