the Vincennes Tree Board is heading a campaign to get rid of invasive Bradford pears across the city.  Bradford pear trees are among the invasive species being targeted by city officials.
Tree Board member Dennis Kordes says a separate, private fund is being set up to help take out the invasive trees in Vincennes.  Also, former George Rogers Clark National Park superintendent Frank Doughman is now working with a non-proft invasive species  management group.  He believes public awareness of the problem is a major step forward.
The groups are working with the Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District toward planting native species, and eliminating invasive ones.
