Work continues on the closed section of Washington Avenue — especially near the intersection of Washington and Emison Avenue.  The latest work will help with drainage– especially coming down from the Heights area east of Washington Avenue.
Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague says the drainage work this week will also help traffic going to the Washington Learning Academy.  Sprague also believes the drainage they are working on now will keep water from draining down the hill unabated.
Overall, work on the current Washington Avenue project will continue  into the fall months.  The stretch of Washington Avenue between Kelso Creek and Emison Avenue is closed to through traffic.
