Indiana Conservation officers will be on various area waterways this weekend as part of “Operation Dry Water.” The campaign is an enhancement of their year-long safe boating measures.
Operation Dry Water will run from Friday to Sunday; it is part of an effort to keep the Fourth of July weekend as safe as possible. Authorities will look for drunk and dangerous boaters over the weekend.
Another part of Operation Dry Water is education on safe boating practices. They include keeping alcohol off the boats, and wearing a life jacket on the boat at all times.
In Indiana, the same blood-alcohol limits apply on water, as they do in a vehicle on land. The legal operating limit is point oh-eight for anyone 21 or over.
