KC Council Approves Interlocal Agreement with Edwardsport

The Knox County Council approved an inter-local agreement with the Town of Edwardsport to help repair some roads affected by vehicles headed to and from the Duke Energy plant.
The County action allows 500-thousand dollars in captured TIF revenue to repair streets and roads in both Edwardsport and Westphalia. The Westphalia work will be done by the County, since the community is an un-incorporated area. However, the inter-local is needed for Edwardsport, due to its status as a municipal town. The funding is part of over three point seven million dollars in TIF revenue captured by Duke Energy. Other beneficiaries include the North Knox School Corporation, and Duke Energy itself as a County reimbursement.
Knox County Redevelopment Commission members are also considering an expansion of the district. Right now, it is limited to the Duke plant itself; however, they may consider Zone expansion to areas around the plant.
