State of Indiana Road Show in Vincennes This Morning

The State of Indiana’s Health Road Show will be in Vincennes this morning at Vincennes University. The three-hour session will be held from seven-thirty to ten-thirty at VU’s Shircliff Auditorium.
The day will start with a welcome by VU president Chuck Johnson and Good Samaritan Hospital CEO Rob McLin. Topics to be covered include the state of the child, the effects of tobacco, health in the workforce, the effects of addiction, and infant mortality. The event is one of several town-hall style sessions to be held by the Alliance for a Healthier Indiana. The Alliance is trying to improve Indiana’s 38th place out of 50 states in healthy citizens.
The Alliance’s first target is tobacco use. Alliance members are urging the General Assembly to increase cigarette taxes by a dollar-fifty per pack. They feel the increase will lower tobacco use, and raise revenue for the state’s health programs.
