Vincennes City Council Approves Nearly One Million Dollar Abatement for Schott-Gemtron

The Vincennes City Council has approved a resolution to provide a close-to one million dollar tax abatement for Schott-Gemtron. The abatement will be for new equipment for the facility.
The abatement will be for five years, with a tax abatement decrease of 20 percent each year. The new equipment is expected to result in a gain of between two and four new workers, and the retention of many other jobs.
A public hearing on the resolution was held during Council’s session. No one spoke for or against the move. After the hearing, Council approved the abatement unanimously.
